Georgia Southern Welcomes Nation’s Top High School Students for Leadership Conference

2-27 GS welcomes nation's top high school students leadership conf秋葵视频 will host more than 200 outstanding high school seniors at its 7th annual Leadership Conference on March 2, 2013. The event is designed to provide top students from around the country with the opportunity to interview for leadership scholarships and attend sessions to improve their leadership abilities. 鈥淲e are excited to once again host this event in Statesboro,鈥 said Amy Smith, associate director of admissions at Georgia Southern. 鈥淭hese students represent many of the outstanding high school leaders from Georgia and across the nation. More and more students are expressing an interest in Georgia Southern and we鈥檙e excited to welcome them and their families to Statesboro this Saturday.鈥 To be invited to the event, students must have outstanding SAT and ACT scores and a GPA that places them among the top in their class. Last year, the average SAT and ACT among attendees was 1158 SAT (Math + Critical Reading only), a 25 ACT and a 3.0 grade point average. In addition to interviewing for scholarships, students have a chance to attend a variety of information sessions about leadership ranging from dealing with conflict to listening. They also have the chance to meet numerous faculty and staff at the University and tour the campus, many for the first time. 鈥淭hese students are among the best in their respective high schools and typically go on to serve in student leadership roles at the University,鈥 said Smith. 鈥淭his is a unique event that not only allows the students to learn about opportunities in the classroom, but also about experiences beyond the academic setting that will prepare them to make a difference in our world.鈥 This event is co-sponsored by Georgia Southern鈥檚 Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement and the Office of Admissions. 秋葵视频, a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University founded in 1906, offers more than 120 degree programs serving more than 20,500 students.
