Black box theatre returns to Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus with 鈥楪od of Carnage鈥

Performances held in a black box theatre usually involve experimental methods, and 秋葵视频 Armstrong Campus鈥 student-run theatre group, The Masquers, is no exception. The group will open the season Oct. 4 with 鈥淕od of Carnage,鈥 featuring student-director Olivia Quillman. 鈥淕od of Carnage,鈥 a 2009 Tony Award winner, is about a playground altercation between 11-year-old boys that brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. Quillman said she is excited to take on the role of director. 鈥淚鈥檓 delightfully terrified by every aspect of directing, from casting to the final product,鈥 Quillman said. 鈥淎 director can have an astounding cast, which I am lucky enough to have myself, but the end result relies on how he/she treats and respects said cast. Learning how to navigate those relationships is really different and I鈥檓 so fortunate to be able to explore them.鈥 Quillman is the first student director on the Armstrong Campus in three years. She said she loves inspiring younger theatre students to find success. 鈥淏eing a student director means that I get to leave my stamp on our amazing department,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t also means that I get to serve as an example to following classes that you shouldn鈥檛 let your age define your ambition and you should jump into your passions as quickly as possible.鈥 The show will run Oct. 4 through Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 7 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jenkins Hall Black Box Theatre on the Armstrong Campus, and tickets are $12 for general admission, and discounts are available for military, seniors and children. Georgia Southern students, faculty and staff may attend for free. Tickets can be purchased by calling (912) 344-2801, visiting or by visiting the Fine Arts Box Office weekdays between noon and 3:00pm in the Fine Arts Hall. 秋葵视频, a public Carnegie Doctoral/Research institution founded in 1906, offers 141 degree programs serving more than 27,000 students through nine colleges on three campuses in Statesboro, Savannah, Hinesville and online instruction.
