鈥楩orm and Content鈥� exhibit brings awards to Georgia Southern art students
The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) at 秋葵视频 recently presented awards to students whose artworks were selected for the annual 鈥淔orm & Content鈥� exhibition. The exhibition and awards were presented at the University Gallery of the Center for Art & Theatre on the Statesboro Campus.
The 鈥淔orm and Content” exhibition features student work from art foundations classes that include Drawing I, Drawing II, 2D Art and Design Foundations, 3D Art and Design Foundations, and Digital Foundations. Of the more than 50 artworks submitted to the exhibition from students on the Statesboro and Savannah campuses, only 24 were accepted into the show.
Alexis Lymus, a graphic design major, received first place for her aluminum sculpture 鈥淪ploosh.鈥�
鈥淚 realize that others see the value in my artwork, even when I lack the confidence to do so myself,鈥� said Lymus. 鈥淎long with that it shows me that hard work does pay off. I’m excited to keep pushing myself to see where my work can go.鈥�
Kya Kelly, a first-year art history major, received second place for her work 鈥淧yramid.鈥� Kelly said she was surprised by her showing, and said when she was told about the recognition, she initially thought she misheard the news.
鈥淚t wasn鈥檛 until I heard my name called at the reception that it sunk in!鈥� Kelly exclaimed. 鈥淚鈥檝e been involved in the arts for a long time, and 鈥楩orm & Content鈥� was my first exhibition, so being awarded a high placement was very encouraging for me.鈥�
Madison Yocum, a first-year 2D studio art student, created 鈥淪oft Sculpture,鈥� which earned third place honors. An honorable mention went to Angel Thomas, a graphic design sophomore, for her installation work 鈥淯ntitled.鈥�
鈥淔orm & Content鈥� finalists were Isabella Amorine, Antonio Calle, Caitlin Ceccotti, Madi Cowart, Jonathan Diaz, Kya Dickson, Kya Kelly, Alexis Lymus, Lauren MacMahon, Noah Mirabile, Samone Moore, Kimberly Rodriguez, Hayden Smith, Angel Thomas, Mary-Porcher Warner and Madison Yocum.
鈥淔orm & Content鈥� was also juried by Savannah-based artist Will Penny.
