Fall 2016 Commencement to be held at Paulson Stadium

Upon the request and recommendation of students through the Student Government Association (SGA), the University’s Fall 2016 Commencement ceremony for graduate and undergraduate students is being moved from Hanner Fieldhouse to Allen E. Paulson Stadium, and will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. Tickets will not be required for entrance to the ceremony at Paulson Stadium.

Georgia Southern President Jaimie Hebert hosts Town Hall event

During his first 100 days as Ƶ’s 13th president, Jaimie Hebert, Ph.D., listened to alumni, faculty, staff and the community by asking them to share their thoughts with him through a unique survey open since July 1. In a town hall event on Monday, Oct. 17, he shared the results of the survey and discussed his vision for the University.

Georgia Southern to host first TEDxGeorgiaSouthernU event

Ƶ will host TEDxGeorgiaSouthernU on Friday, Oct. 28, 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., in the University’s Black Box Theatre, located in the Center for Art & Theatre at 233 Pittman Drive, Statesboro. The theme for this year’s event is “Connecting Creatively.” Registration is now open and available through GeorgiaSouthern.edu/TEDx with limited seats available.

A Day for Southern benefits students, connects University to community

One day may not seem like much time to make a difference, but for Georgia Southern, it can.

Just ask Aleyna Rentz and Dylan John — two Georgia Southern students who have directly benefited from funds raised during the annual A Day for Southern (ADFS) giving campaign. Now in its 43rd year, the one-day campaign, set for Tuesday, Sept. 13, helps raise funds for the University to help cover costs not funded by state dollars such as scholarships, faculty development, championship athletics and cultural programs.

On May 6 and 7, Ƶ recently held its annual spring commencement ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students at Hanner Fieldhouse and Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Interim University President Jean E. Bartels, Ph.D., R.N., conferred more than 3,300 doctoral, master’s, specialist and bachelor’s degrees from the University’s eight colleges during two separate ceremonies.

Georgia Southern announces Spring 2016 Commencement speakers

Ƶ has selected Stephen Harmon, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Learning Technologies Division in the College of Education and Human Development at Georgia State University, and Carol H. Burrell, president and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System, as the speakers for the 2016 Spring Commencement ceremonies on May 6 and 7.
