All contributions made to Endowed Projects (those beginning with “3”) are added to the corpus, or principal, of the endowment. The endowed principal may never be spent. Income earned on the principal is used to fund projects or programs. The Foundation’s endowed projects are jointly administered by department chairs or area directors and the Foundation. Disbursements from endowment earnings are made only when requested by the appropriate department chair or area director. Endowed projects are typically used to fund scholarships or professorships.

All contributions to Restricted Projects (those beginning with “0”) may be used to fund activities and programs. Restricted projects have been established for most academic and administrative areas on campus. Disbursements from restricted projects must be initiated by the various program directors or department chairs and approved by the appropriate academic dean or vice president. A minimum balance of $1,000 is required to establish a new project. Unrestricted contributions made to the Greater University Fund are disbursed across campus through a budgetary process which is approved and monitored by the University Vice Presidents and the Ƶ Foundation Board of Directors.

Dr. Pamela G. Bourland-Davis Legacy Campaign

The Davis family is proud to announce the launch of the Dr. Pamela G. Bourland-Davis Legacy Campaign, a visionary campaign endeavor to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Pamela G. Bourland‑Davis. With a fundraising goal of $5 million, this campaign embodies Dr. Pam’s lifelong belief that the greatest investment one can make is in people.

Dr. Pam lived a life rich with purpose, passion and unwavering dedication. For more than 40 years, she shaped the future of communication and public relations education at Georgia Southern, serving 19 years as Chair of the Department of Communication Arts. She was a mentor, leader and visionary who saw potential in others that they often could not see in themselves and then helped them fine‑tune it until they flourished. Her impact extended far beyond campus, through national leadership roles, academic contributions and her contagious joy for life.

The Dr. Pam Legacy Campaign will carry forward her vision through three transformative initiatives, which you can learn more about on :

  • Establishing a named tribute in her honor.
  • Awarding multiple scholarships that support students for one to four years.
  • Funding global learning experiences through study abroad scholarships.

However, this campaign is more than financial gifts. It is also about sharing stories and memories of Dr. Pam. Every reflection and testimony becomes part of the living legacy she leaves behind, ensuring her spirit of hope, excellence and community continues to inspire generations to come.

Dr. Pam believed in investing in people above all else. She had a gift for seeing value where others might overlook it and she made everyone she encountered better for knowing her. This campaign is our opportunity to continue that work by investing in people, in futures and in the transformative power of education – to carry on her legacies of love, learning and leadership.

The campaign invites alumni, colleagues, friends and community members to join in honoring Dr. Pam’s remarkable life. Together, we will ensure her legacy lives on and that future generations soar higher, just as she did.
