Getting in the weeds: Georgia Southern receives $250K grant for seagrass and climate change research

Ƶ’s Tyler Cyronak, Ph.D., has secured a $250,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to investigate the pivotal role of seagrass in combating climate change.

“Coastal ecosystems and coastal communities are some of the most vulnerable to climate change,” explains Cyronak.

Thanks to the $47,000 grant from the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement, Inc., the research group has received financial support to conduct research on the ecology of local watersheds in forestry areas. The funding supports their study of how forestry management practices impact freshwater ecosystems.
