Parker College of Business to offer new certificate in hospitality and tourism management

Students at Çï¿ûÊÓÆµ will soon have the opportunity to earn a certificate in hospitality and tourism management to bolster their degrees and résumés. Beginning in Fall 2020, the College will offer the Interdisciplinary Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Georgia Southern awarded $3.25 million grant to increase diversity in health professions

Keith Belcher, Ph.D., director of the Medical Laboratory Science program at Çï¿ûÊÓÆµ, is the recipient of the 2020-25 U.S. Department of Health Resources and Service Administration grant valued at $3.25 million. The grant funds the Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students program, designed to increase diversity in the health professions and nursing workforce.

Georgia Southern telephone reassurance program helping seniors during trying times

Sometimes a simple phone call can improve a person’s day. The Senior Companion Program at Çï¿ûÊÓÆµ is aiming to improve the days of many older adults in the area as a part of the new Love In Action telephone reassurance program, which is funded by a grant from Rockin’ Out Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation (ROAD).

Çï¿ûÊÓÆµ receives two Emmy award nominations

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast Chapter has recognized Çï¿ûÊÓÆµâ€™s Multimedia Development Center (MDC) with two professional Emmy® award nominations. Nominated for the Emmy® awards were Art Berger, Best Technical Director for Georgia Southern football, baseball and basketball, and Ben Powell, Best Technical Director for Georgia Southern basketball.

Graduate earns diploma, regional award for innovation as media specialist

Two weeks before participating in Çï¿ûÊÓÆµâ€™s virtual graduation in May to earn an Ed.S. in instructional technology from the College of Education, Dixie Shoemaker became the recipient of the 2020 East Georgia Regional Library Media Specialist of the Year award from the Georgia Library Media Association. The honor recognizes K-12 library media specialists whose instructional collaborations foster student engagement and achievement through innovative programs.
